On December 21, Amtrak’s Board of Directors named George Warrington as President & Chief Executive Officer, a post he had held on an acting basis since December 1997. Mr Warrington graduated from Syracuse University in 1974 and received his Masters in Public Administration there in 1975. He joined New Jersey Department of Transportation where he rose to become Vice President & General Manager of NJ Transit Rail Operations from 1988-90 and Deputy Commissioner in 1990-92. After a spell with Patco he joined Amtrak in 1994 as President of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor.

Anton Valk has been appointed Commercial Director of NS Materieel.

Robert Evetts has taken over as General Manager of Tasrail in Tasmania. He replaces David Crispin who is heading Tasrail’s push to expand into mainland Australia.

Tim Thirwall has been named Chairman of Mott MacDonald, replacing Robert Beresford, who has retired. He is succeeded as Managing Director by Mike Blackburn.

Jorge Licón has been named Vice President, Operations in Monterrey for Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana. Christopher Aadnesen becomes Executive Vice President.
