PRAHA city transport authority Dphmp formally opened a new station at Depo Hostivar on May 27, extending the operational length of metro Line A by 1033m to 11 km with 13 stations.

Built by Metrostav at a cost of KC1·3bn, the project involved construction of a new surface station alongside existing tracks used by Line A trains to reach the depot from their former terminus at Skalka. Maximum speed on the extension is 60 km/h.

The new station and park-and-ride terminal have been added to relieve congestion at Skalka, which provides the main interchange between the metro and local bus services.

Because of space constraints within the existing track layout, the glass-canopied platforms at Depo Hostivar are the narrowest on the three-line network. n
