Thorn Security has completed a contract to install a CCTV secure access system for the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal. More than 50 cameras give complete surveillance, including pan/tilt cameras with motorised zoom lenses, and facilities to monitor trains entering or leaving the site.
Polish State Railways has installed a Weighline in-track vehicle weighing system to monitor and speed up handling of cross-border freight shipments. Railweight supplied four Weighline transducers, together with HS2 electronics, wheel sensors and a printer to PKP, which had specified an operating speed of up to 30 km/h.
Factair has introduced a lightweight air compressor, designed to ease access to trackside locations. Weighing 117 kg, the RailAir 504P compressor produces up to 12·7 litres/sec at 6·9 bar from a rotary vane compressor driven by a small petrol engine.
Ansaldo Signal subsidiary Union Switch & Signal has combined its Microlok vital control system, Genisys 2000 non-vital logic controller and the Microtrax coded track circuit into a single wayside control system. Microlok II provides vital interlocking control, train detection, signal lighting, coded track messaging, non-vital control and indications via a code system, cab signalling and event recording.
