STB backs DM&E link

THE US Surface Transportation Board has approved the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad’s ambitious proposal to serve the Powder River coalfield. Officially authorised on January 31, the $1·4bn project will enable DM&E to compete with Union Pacific and Burlington Northern & Santa Fe.
