Talent order
GERMANY’s regional Ostmecklenburgische Eisenbahn has become the first independent railway to place a series order for the Talent lightweight diesel railcar developed by Bombardier Eurorail. The prototype built last year by Waggonfabrik Talbot in Aachen is currently undergoing a four-month revenue service demonstration on Netherlands Railways’ Leeuwarden - Sneek - Stavoren branch in northeast Friesland.
OME’s parent Neubrandenburger Verkehrs AG has ordered nine 3-car units for DM32m. Due for delivery in 1998, they will be built by Talbot, on the same production line as the 120 similar sets ordered by German Railway last June. o
