VIRIATO is a timetable planning and co-ordination tool designed to handle the increasing numbers of parties involved in modern service planning processes. Different timetable proposals can be generated and stored for comparison, using common data for the train specifications.

Train graphs can be produced, and the software is available in English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Add-on modules cover rolling stock rostering, XML data exchange and capacity analysis.

Portuguese infrastructure manager Refer has used Viriato to generate timetables which are made available on its intranet using e-Viriato. In Switzerland, SBB’s timetable office plans to adopt Viriato in place of its current SYFA tool.
