Tunnel icing prevented

GEOTHERMAL energy is being used to prevent ice formation in Chinese railway tunnels, as a cost-effective alternative to insulated lagging. The heat pipe technology has been developed by Chen Zhaoming and Li Yuanjun at the Taiyuan Railway Research Institute of Science & Technology.
