In support of ambitions for 80% of local travel to be undertaken by sustainable means, München city council is to undertake studies for six new tram routes. These include a south tangent between Waldfriedhof und Ostbahnhof and a connection from the Deutschen Museum to Neuperlach-Zentrum.
RATP Dev has taken full control of RATP Dev Transdev Asia through the acquisition of Transdev’s 50% interest in the joint venture which was founded in 2009 to operate transport networks in Asia. Its operations include Hong Kong Tramways.
A tunnel boring machine supplied by Herrenknecht for Auckland’s City Rail Link project was named after Māori rights champion Dame Whina Cooper on December 4, patron saint of miners St Barbara’s day. ‘It is a symbolic signal for the start of hard work underground to build the CRL tunnels and stations that will transform the way Aucklanders can travel around their city’, said City Rail Link Ltd Chief Executive Dr Sean Sweeney. Tickets have also been allocated for a ‘boring day out’ which will give local people the chance to see the machine.
RATP Dev is testing MZ Technologie’s HoloStop holographic stop request buttons on buses in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to the west of Paris. A virtual button floats outside the hardware box, and can be activated by passengers without needing to touch a physical object. The device emits a short sound and briefly changes colour to show that it has been activated.
