Test running on Helsinki’s Raide-Jokeri orbital light rail line began on November 8. Opening is scheduled for 2024.


On November 7 EIB signed an agreement to provide €372m of co-financing for the €500m first phase of the extension of Madrid Metro Line 11 from Conde de Casal to Plaza Elíptica. Tunnelling get underway at the beginning of November.

Seoul Metro is to increase capacity on its busy Line 9, following the fatal crowd crush in the Itaewon area. From 2024 the number of six-car trainsets in service each day will be increased from 45 to 53, with the aim of bringing down peak loadings on express services from 156% to 120%.


The Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is to provide €2·7m for modernisation of Rostock’s tramway infrastructure, including track renewals, power upgrades and depot improvements. 

Praha transport operator DPP has awarded Strabag a KC233m contract to build the second section of an extension of tram routes 4 and 5 from Holyně to Slivenec. Including 500 m of track and a double loop.
