USA: Bombardier Transportation announced on September 1 that it had received a second order for double-deck coaches from commuter operator New Jersey Transit, covering the supply of 100 cars and worth $267m. The contract includes options for up 79 additional vehicles.

'We are proud to be a partner with NJ Transit in offering rail transportation as a solution for increasing mobility, reducing congestion and benefiting the environment and the regional economy', said Raymond Bachant, President, North America, at Bombardier Transportation. 'This new order for our reliable, safe and comfortable equipment illustrates the confidence NJ Transit places in Bombardier and our products'.

Bombardier has already supplied 329 double-deck vehicles to NJT under a contract awarded in 2003.
