Syntus has won a 15-year contract to operate trains around Zwolle.

NETHERLANDS: The province of Overijssel announced on June 16 that Syntus had been selected for a €17·5m/year contract to operate regional services from Zwolle to Enschede and Kampen for 15 years from December 2017. The services are currently operated by NS Reizigers.

VolkerRail was recently awarded a contract to electrify the 40 km Zwolle – Wierden section of the Enschede route in time for the start of the operating contract, which will enable all services to be operated using electric multiple-units.

The line speed is also to be raised on the Kampen route, where a new station is to be built at Stadshagen to serve suburban developments to the northwest of Zwolle.
