GERMANY: Wagon leasing company GATX Rail Europe says the opening of its technical and safety training centre at Lehrte marks ‘the start of a new chapter in how we transfer expertise across the company’.
The company said technical developments in the industry and an increase in consulting needs from customers and third parties mean that structured training is essential, enabling its experienced staff to share their expertise with the next generation of wagon professionals.
The opening of a dedicated centre relieves pressure on workshops, keeps discussions private and makes learning possible in all weathers.
The GATX Training Academy Campus includes a refurbished tank wagon which provides a controlled environment for learning without the operational constraints of a workshop. Training includes working at height, tank entry, cleaning, brake systems and company onboarding.
‘Skills matter and knowledge must be shared’, said Johann Feindert, CEO of GATX Rail Europe. ‘The GATX Training Academy gives us the space to train, to learn, and to keep our expertise on track for the future.’
