USA: MerMec is to supply a track geometry car to be used on San Francisco Bay Area’s BART metro network. The order is financed by the Federal Transit Administration, and MerMec says that this will be the first self-propelled inspection and measuring vehicle to meet Buy America requirements.
The custom-designed 1 676 mm gauge car is derived from MerMec’s Roger MM 600 model. It will be equipped with non-contact optoelectronics systems including an integrated track geometry, full rail profile and turnout geometry measuring system. All data will be analysed using MerMec’s TrackWare software.
