FRANCE: Alstom is to supply a further 96 RER NG trainsets for use on Paris Line D.

FRANCE: SNCF Voyageurs has placed a further order for RER NG trainsets for use on cross-city Line D of the Parisian suburban network.
The option for 96 trains was confirmed on June 23. It has been called off under a framework contract for Alstom to supply up to 371 trainsets within a budget of approximately €3·7bn, funded by transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités. This latest order brings the total number of RER NG orders to 262. 130 trainsets 112 m long are for RER Line E, and 132 trainsets 130 m long are for Line D.
The RER NG fleet comprises two subclasses, Z58000 for Line E and Z58500 for Line D. The first of the EMUs entered service on Line E in November 2023 as part of the renewal and extension of the route under the Éole programme.
Now they are being rolled out on the busy Line D which runs north-south through the heart of Paris, linking Nord and Lyon stations along its route.
The 140 km/h trainsets for Line D have capacity to carry 1 861 passengers, of which 606 can be seated. The trains are fitted with 310 USB ports, 54 passenger information screens and the same number of CCTV cameras.
‘Alstom is delighted with this announcement, which confirms the confidence of Île-de-France Mobilités and SNCF Voyageurs in this new and innovative rolling stock, designed and assembled at our Valenciennes and Crespin sites’, said Frédéric Wiscart, President of Alstom France.
