GERMANY: Amberg Technologies has supplied infrastructure manager DB Netz with a tamping surveying system which combines track position and distance surveying.

It is suitable for use on both new installations and during maintenance, and the manufacturer claims it can cut the cost of tamping surveying by up to 70%.

Based on Amberg’s proven GRP System FX surveying platform, the equipment fits on two trolleys and can be operated by two people with a capacity to cover up to 1200 m an hour. There are integrated sensors for superelevation and gauge measurements, with millimetre precision allowing the detection of long-wave track irregularities. Correction values are submitted directly to the tamping machine.
