CROATIA: National passenger operator HŽPP has awarded Končar KEV a contract to supply four battery, four battery-electric and five electro-diesel trainsets in 2027-28.
Two battery charging stations will also be built in Lupoglav and in Velika.
The €117·9m order signed on June 30 is being financed through a European Investment Bank loan.

HŽPP CEO Željko Ukić said the electro-diesel trainsets would run on the Koprivnica – Osijek and Čakovec – Kotoriba routes and to Zadar, Rijeka and Pula.
‘HŽPP currently has 65 new trains in operation, and five more will be put into service by the end of the year’, he said. ‘Next year, six more new electro-diesel trains will be put into service, connecting Zagreb and Split.’
HŽPP plans to order a further 11 multiple-units.
