Propulsion and electrical systems for the 25 kV 50 Hz EMUs are being supplied from Alstom’s factory at Maneja, and Wabtec is supplying braking systems, pantographs, roof disconnector switches and passenger information systems.

The order includes 30 six-car EMUs for the ‘regional’ services on the full 82 km Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut corridor, and 10 three-car sets for high-capacity local ‘transit’ services on the 21 km 13-station section between Meerut South and Modipuram Depot. .

They will have 2+2 seating as well as standing space, with luggage racks, CCTV, laptop and mobile charging points, dynamic route maps, automatically controlled ambient lighting system and air-conditioning. There will one Premium class coach per train, and one coach reserved for women.
