GERMANY: Regional passenger operator Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn has leased four more three-car Bombardier Talent diesel multiple-units from Alpha Trains to handle growing ridership on its Ostbrandenburg and Heidekrautbahn services.

The DMUs are scheduled to enter service with NEB from 2020, after a general inspection and component overhaul which will be supervised by Alpha Trains’ in-house engineering department.

The additional DMUs will operate with similar units which the operator already leases from Alpha Trains.

‘Even after more than 10 years in service, the Talent fleet is extremely popular with our passengers’, said NEB Managing Director Detlef Bröcker on September 9. ‘The trains are very reliable and are used by many commuters and tourists’.
