The EMU is capable of 160 km/h operation and accommodating up to 350 passengers, 160 of which can be seated.

It features air conditioning, ticket vending machines, passenger information systems, wi-fi, bicycle storage, and power sockets.

The vehicles are to operate:

  • in the Łódz area on existing lines to increase frequency;
  • on new routes linking Łódz to Płock via Zgierz and Kutno, Łódz – Zgierz – Warszawa, Łódz – Głowno – Łowicz, as well as between Łódz and Radom;
  • through the 7∙5 km cross-city tunnel, which is under construction to link Łódź Fabryczna with Łódź Kaliska and Łódź Żabieniec, with completion scheduled for late 2026.

‘The Łódzkie voivodship faces a significant challenge, stemming from the increasing expectations of its residents. Our offerings are expanding, and passenger numbers are growing, but without new, comfortable rolling stock that meets all traveller needs, growth is impossible’, said Aneta Wierzbicka, Deputy Director of the Department of Infrastructure at Łódzkie voivodship.
