Argentina: CNR has dispatched the first three of 27 three-car DMUs that it is supplying for the Belgrano Sur commuter network in Buenos Aires (RG 11.13 p19). The final batch is expected to be shipped in August.

Australia: Nomad Digital is to provide a proof-of-concept remote condition monitoring system for testing on four Metro Trains Melbourne Alstom X’trapolis EMUs ahead of a potential fleet-wide roll out.

Azerbaijan: ADY is taking delivery of 50 wagons from Uralvagonzavod.

China: Jilin Midas Aluminium Industries has won orders to supply aluminium extrusions for high speed train bodyshells to CNR Changchun (185m yuan) and CNR Tangshan (144m yuan).

Czech Republic: CD has hired four Stadler-built RegioShuttle RS1 railcars from Vogtlandbahn for an undisclosed price.

CD has awarded Škoda Transportation subsidiary Pars Nova a KC451m contract to maintain and overhaul the fleet of 20 Škoda Class 380 multi-voltage electric locos.

France: SNCF has exercised a €127m option for a further 19 Bombardier Francilien EMUs for delivery in 2016-17. Financed by Ile-de-France transport authority STIF, they will be used on Transilien Line L.

Georgia: Georgian Railway’s Batumi depot has taken delivery of its first Zagro battery shunting vehicle. A second is to be used at Samtredia.

Germany: ENON subsidiary Eisenbahngesellschaft Potsdam has ordered a Siemens Vectron locomotive with a last-mile diesel engine, to be delivered in August for use on cross-border traffic in Austria and Germany.

India: IR’s Chittaranjan Locomotive Works produced 250 electric locomotives in 2014-15, including 145 with three-phase drives.

Indonesia: SKF has signed a three-year agreement to supply PT KAI with tapered roller bearing units, aftermarket seals and dismounting tools.

Iran: Irico plans to produce 150 DMU cars by March 2016.

Italy: On April 23 Alstom announced two contracts totalling €170m to supply 25 more Jazz regional EMUs to Trentialia as options on a 2012 contract.

Japan: Tobu Railway has ordered eight Kawasaki Heavy Industries Series 500 three-car express EMUs for entry into service in 2017. They will have active suspension, permanent magnet motors, LED lighting and an accessible toilet.

Netherlands: NS formally awarded Stadler Rail a €280m firm contract to supply 25 four-car and 33 three-car Flirt EMUs on April 22. Deliveries are scheduled by the end of 2016 (RG 4.15 p54). Plans for the order were announced in December, with NS using ‘urgency mode’ provisions in EU procurement rules to place the order without tendering.

Peru: CP of Portugal has sold five surplus metre gauge Class 9500 DMUs to an undisclosed customer.

Poland: FPS is to rebuild three PKP IC Z1A compartment coaches into an open layout with buffet at a cost of 19·6m złoty.

Sole bidder Pesa is to supply a two-car DMU to Podkarpackie voivodship this year under a deal worth 14·25m złoty including six years of maintenance.

Siemens was the sole bidder for a contract to supply 15 multi-system electric locos to PKP Cargo; Newag bid to supply four for use in Poland and Germany.

Romania: CFR has ordered an overheating wheel and gearbox detection system from Alstom and Pas 97 Impex for €12·5m.

Russia: United Wagon Co has signed a long-term leasing contract with Logistika1520 covering up to 600 Type 19-9549 grain hoppers of a new 76 tonne capacity design.

Tver Carriage Works has obtained certification for series production of a new generation of coaches for transporting prisoners. The 61-4495 has improved ventilation and takes into account feedback from human rights organisations.

Mechel-Trans East has awarded Sinara Transport Machines a four-year contract to service TE8 and TEM18DM locos at an annual cost of 120m roubles.

Škoda Transportation subsidiary OOO Vagonmaš signed the 3·8bn rouble contract to supply eight six-car trainsets for St Petersburg metro Line 3 on April 30 (RG 4.15 p17).

Uralvagonzavod is developing a chemical tank container made from composite materials which are expected to be lighter than steel.

Slovakia: ZSSK has awarded ŽOS Vrútky a €25·8m contract to convert four more 3 kV DC Class 163 electric locos into the 3 kV/25 kV Class 361 by early 2017, with an option for another seven.

Switzerland: Alstom is to supply three more two-car rubber-tyred trainsets for Lausanne metro Line m2.

Traktionssysteme Austria is to supply traction motors for the 250 km/h trainsets SBB has ordered from Stadler Rail.

Tanzania: Tanzania Railway Corp has put into service 22 air-conditioned sleeping cars supplied from South Korea at a cost of US$415·5m for the Dar es Salaam – Kigoma route.
