UK: Southeastern and Canterbury Christ Church University are to collaborate to boost career development for staff and students, tackle regional skills shortages and support employment opportunities.

Areas of focus include:

  • support for curriculum design;
  • enhanced opportunities for students to learn on real-world projects or placements;
  • mentoring and support for students, particularly students from underrepresented groups;
  • building clear graduate pathways for the region;
  • identifying and developing training opportunities for Southeastern staff from apprenticeships to continued professional development;
  • using the university’s academic expertise and technical services to support collaborative research and knowledge activity to benefit Southeastern.

‘This collaboration presents an excellent opportunity to identify and develop initiatives that benefit both organisations and our wider region’, said Professor Rama Thirunamachandran, Vice-Chancellor & Principal of Canterbury Christ Church University, on August 28.

Steve Foster, People & Culture Director, at the South Eastern Railway partneship of Southeastern and Network Rail, said ‘by working together, we can create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the rail sector while providing access to learning and development opportunities’.
