The German Land of Schleswig-Holstein has agreed to fund a €2·5m study into extending Hamburg S-Bahn services to Ahrensburg as the first stage of a €350m plan for a route S4 to Bad Oldesloe. Work could begin in 2018.

The Federal Transit Administration has released a $103bn Full Funding Grant Agreement for Denver Regional Transportation District’s FasTracks programme, worth $67bn in total. The funding covers construction of the Gold Line commuter rail route to Arvada (RG 6.11 p18), but completion of the remaining FasTracks projects is still subject to a local referendum on a sales tax increase.

A multi-modal public transport study for Jeddah has been completed, governor of Makkah province Prince Khaled Al-Faisal announced on July 27. Tendering for construction of a metro is expected to begin soon.

DB has begun surveying a 9 km extension of München S-Bahn route S7 from Wolfratshausen to Geretsried. Plans will be submitted to the EBA later this year, and construction could begin in 2013 for completion in three years.
