INTERNATIONAL: UK-headquartered rail services company ROMIC has signed a partnership agreement with Mexican rolling stock and component manufacturer Locomotoras San Luis.

ROMIC specialises in the refurbishment, remanufacturing and sale of secondhand rolling stock, and it has been responsible for the sale of several ex-British Rail IC125 High Speed Trains in recent years to customers in Mexico and Nigeria. Announcing the partnership with LSL at the end of November, ROMIC said that it had developed a strong working relationship with the Mexican company over the past three years.

The companies say their partnership will allow both to expand their global reach; LSL will lead on manufacturing work, while ROMIC will focus on sales, marketing and logistics. Their aim is not to compete with major OEMs, but to offer bespoke rolling stock options tailored to clients seeking smaller quantities and budget-conscious investment. In addition to new locomotives, overhauled and remanufactured rolling stock is to be offered to meet various operational needs.

‘We share a deep alignment in values, and we’re genuinely excited about the future this collaboration holds. In business, finding the right partners is never easy; it takes time, patience, and a mutual understanding of core principles. When you do find people, you can truly trust and respect, it’s essential to honour that relationship and deliver on each other’s expectations. This partnership is built on that foundation, and we look forward to what we can achieve together’, said ROMIC owners Robert and Mary Coleman.

José Cardona González, Managing Director of LSL, added that ‘built on shared roots and a common vision, our two family businesses unite to create something greater than the sum of their parts; a partnership that blends tradition with progress, and passion with performance. Together, we aim to push boundaries, deliver real value and leave a lasting mark on the industry we both deeply care about.’
