Saudi Arabia Railways has awarded CAF a €200m, five-year contract to maintain and support the trainsets it supplied for the North–South Railway and Riyadh – Dammam routes and to develop local technical competencies.

SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi Arabia Railways has awarded CAF a €200m, five-year contract to maintain and support the trainsets it supplied for the North–South Railway and Riyadh – Dammam routes and to develop local technical competencies.

SAR’s depot facilities will be adapted to undertake the overhaul of major systems including bogies, wheelsets and engines.

A joint engineering excellence centre will be established to train SAR staff to carry out maintenance work, a digital centre will be created to develop technology based on CAF’s LeadMind data connectivity and analysis platform, and strategic agreements with local universities and technical centres will cover R&D and the expansion of local skills and expertise.
