COLOMBIA: Metro de Medellín and Crossrail International have formalised a strategic partnership for collaboration to support railway development across Colombia.
Over the past year, the metro operator and the UK consultancy business, which was formed to capitalise on the experience gained from London’s Elizabeth Line project, have collaborated on initiatives including technical visits and workshops on rail decarbonisation, energy transition and the adoption of clean technologies.
The new partnership provides an opportunity to take this further, focusing on:
- strengthening institutional and technical capacity for major rail and metro programmes;
- supporting skills development and knowledge exchange through peer learning and international engagement;
- promoting British expertise and innovation in rail operations, decarbonisation, digital technology, and infrastructure planning;
- exploring how sustainable mobility that can contribute to Colombia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Crossrail International said ‘we believe that effective partnerships help shape better transport futures. By bringing together local expertise and global experience, we can drive high-impact projects, strengthen decision-making, and improve public transport outcomes for communities.’
