Paribus Group has sold its Northrail Technical Service locomotive maintenance and repair business to Railpool Group.

GERMANY: Paribus Group has sold its Northrail Technical Service locomotive maintenance and repair business to Railpool Group, which is to operate it under the Railpool Lok-Service brand.

Paribus Group partner Dr Volker Simmering said NTS had made a valuable contribution to maintaining locomotives owned by its Northrail leasing business, but Northrail now has its own expertise and undertakes most of its maintenance at other sites, while Railpool is the biggest customer of NTS.

The NTS workshop at Hamburg-Billbrook is ‘ideally located’ for the efficient maintenance of Railpool’s fleet of more than 200 locomotives, the leasing company’s CEO Torsten Lehnert said on April 12. ‘For the Railpool Group, the purchase of the workshop is an important strategic investment. We will continue to expand existing workshop capacities in the coming years for the maintenance of electric locomotives.’
