Vossloh Group and Anyang Railway Equipment Co have formed a 51:49 joint venture to produce rail fastening components in China.

The VR Maintenance subsidiary of Finland’s national operator has been rebranded as VR FleetCare, as part of a strategy to develop it as an independent company and seek international growth. ‘We want to be an important partner to our customers and take care of their equipment in the best possible way’, said Vice-President, Sales, Peter Guldbrand on September 4. ‘When it comes to developing our business, our top priorities are to develop smart preventive maintenance and provide our customers with new data and analytics-based equipment life-cycle services.’

Hitachi Rail Group Chief Administration Officer and Managing Director of Hitachi Rail Ltd, Karen Boswell, is to leave the company on October 1. ‘Karen has made an enormous and lasting contribution to Hitachi Rail at both UK and group levels, and she will be leaving with our business in great shape and well positioned to build on the achievements of the last four-and-a-half years’, said Hitachi Rail Group CEO Andrew Barr on September 2.

Mesela Nhlapo has joined the Rail Working Group as Director for Africa, co-ordinating activities promoting the Luxembourg Rail Protocol in the continent. RWG said Nhlapo had extensive experience of the rail sector from her time with the Railroad Association of South Africa.

Head of VTG’s Rail Europe Business Line, Sven Wellbrock, became Chief Operating Officer Europe & Chief Safety Officer on the executive board from September 1. Oksana Janssen, previously Head of the Rail Russia Business Line, became Chief Operating Officer, Eurasia & Far East. VTG has set up offices in Russia and Shanghai and established a commercial representation in Japan. Meanwhile, Chief Logistics & Safety Officer Günter-Friedrich Maas has opted to leave VTG ‘to seek new entrepreneurial challenges’.
