RS ZERO

Stadler displayed its RS Zero railbus designed for hydrogen or battery power at the Rail Business Days exhibition in Ostrava. Stadler Chairman Peter Spuhler said it offered a ‘compelling solution’ for replacing diesel traction on non-electrified routes in the Czech Republic.

Rawie groundbreaking

Buffer stop, barrier and access system manufacturer A Rawie has begun work on a new headquarters on a 18 000 m2 site near Osnabrück. It will feature 4 800 m2 of production space and 500 m2 of offices. ‘We are laying the foundation to further strengthen our innovative capabilities and secure our market position in the long term’, Managing Director Markus Gehle said after the groundbreaking on June 6. ‘The new location enables us to respond even more efficiently to the needs of our international customers while also creating an attractive working environment.’

ENSCO has appointed Gregory Holtman as Training Co-ordinator for the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado. He will lead training programmes for a diverse range of learners, including school pupils, interns, transport professionals and TTC personnel. He has previously led training initiatives for Union Pacific, Denver Transit Operators and Denver’s Regional Transportation District.

Leasing company Akiem has raised €285m, supported by its advisory bank BNP Paribas, for the acquisition of new rolling stock assets to support growth in the European market. Akiem was advised by Linklaters. The investor pool was supported by teams from Clifford Chance.

Liebherr-Transportation Systems Marica is to move to a larger site at Plovdiv in Bulgaria, expanding rail and commercial vehicle HVAC production capacity and adding aviation works.

Schweizer Electronic has opened a French subsidiary in Clermont-Ferrand which will supply level crossings and safety systems.

Major General (ret) Stephen Farmen has joined Intramotev as senior adviser. The battery-powered wagon technology company said his expertise in logistics, military operations and defence transport would help the company as it expands its capabilities to serve government and defence customers.

Scott Mawby has been named Managing Director of Derby-based Tidyco, as James Tidy steps down after 26 years with the company. Mawby has been at Tidyco’s parent company Indutrade for five years.
