TURKEY: Gaziantep council has awarded Spanish construction company Comsa EMTE a €20m contract to build Line 3 of the city's developing Gaziray tram network.

The contract covers infrastructure, track, signalling and electrification including three substations for the 6·5 km double track route, which will have eight stops.

Announcing the deal on September 5, Comsa EMTE said its fourth contract in Turkey would strengthen its presence in the country's railway sector, where it began operating in early 2012. The company is currently working on extensions of Ankara metro lines M2 and M3, and building the 7 km single track circular tram Line 1 in Bursa, with 13 stops.
