AZD Praha point machine

ESTONIA: Infrastructure manager Eesti Raudtee has awarded AŽD Praha a contract to supply 800 point machines.

The large order ‘is very important for AŽD and creates an interesting alternative to existing Russian-made products in the Baltic countries’, said Petr Žatecký, the Czech company’s Director of Foreign Marketing & Trade on January 11.

Valued at €6·1m, the four-year contract was signed after ‘fierce competition and complex negotiations’, as well as successful testing with an initial three PointSWing EP-642 machines, which have an internal lock and fixing brackets to suit four different turnout profiles.

As part of the contract, AŽD will also train local staff to install the equipment.
