DENMARK: National passenger train operator DSB has signed a DKr1·9bn contract for the construction of a rolling stock maintenance depot at Vinge as part of the project to convert København’s S-bane suburban rail network to GoA4 fully automatic unattended operation.
Located near the Route C terminus at Frederikssund, the depot will have a 25 000 m² workshop hall, administrative buildings and 14 km of electrified track for maintaining and stabling S-tog electric multiple-units.
The lead contractor is MT Højgaard Danmark, which was named preferred bidder in June and announced the signing of the contract on September 1. It will work with Artelia, Holm & Grut architects, MJ Eriksson, Siemens, Thing Brandt Landskab and Systra.
DSB has structured the depot project in a way that allows for early involvement of the contractor, consultant and architect. A design phase is to run from 2025 to 2028, to be followed by the turnkey construction phase running to 2031.
