BRAZIL: Concessionaire Trivia Trens has awarded Siemens Mobility a contract to supply digital signalling for São Paulo suburban lines 11-Coral, 12-Sapphire, and 13-Jade.
The contract covers design, supply, installation, commissioning and operations support for the signalling and train control system across the three lines covering 140 km of tracks and 46 stations. This will support ATO over ETCS Level 2, facilitating automated train operations.
Siemens Mobility is to equip 107 trainsets of various types and three locomotives for Trivia with its Trainguard ETCS onboard units, together with six locomotives owned by freight operator MRS Logistica and 17 track maintenance machines.
The package also includes an Advanced Traffic Management System, interlockings, an ETCS radio block centre, and all necessary lineside equipment. Siemens is also to provide spare parts.
’By implementing ATO over ETCS Level 2 in São Paulo’s busy metropolitan transportation network, we’re setting new standards for automated urban rail transportation in the region and up to 30% increased network capacity’ commented Marc Ludwig, CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility. ’Together with our client, we will implement the largest ETCS Level 2 project in South America.’
Trivia Trens is a subsidiary of local transport group Comporte Participações, which won a 25-year concession to operate, maintain and expand São Paulo suburban rail lines 11, 12 and 13 in March.
