AUSTRALIA: Sydney Trains has appointed Systra to support the development of a business case and integration plan for the NextGen Digital Train Radio System programme to transition from the current GSM-R communications to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System.
‘This programme is important for the future of our network. Upgrading our train radio capability will support more reliable communications for operations and the safety of users and our teams’, said Andrew Constantinou, Programme Director for Digital Train Radio System at Sydney Trains, in February.
Systra will provide advisory and integration planning services to support investment decisions and staged delivery, drawing on its previous work with the rail sector and its experience across telecommunications, signalling, and systems integration.
‘We are committed to working as one team to deliver a smooth, standards aligned transition, drawing on our local and global capabilities’, said Tom Warner, Executive General Manager Systems at Systra Australia & New Zealand.
