France: SNCF Réseau has signed framework agreements with Tata Steel, Voestalpine, Arcelor Mittal and Lucchini for the supply of 750000 tonnes of rail. Running for five years with a four-year extension option, they have a total value of €1bn.

The Artemis consortium of Artelia, Arcadis and BG Ingénieurs Conseils has been awarded a 15-year project management contract extension for the Grand Paris Express metro project.

Italy: RFI has awarded Tratos a framework contract worth up to €3m for the supply of signalling and power cables.

Malaysia: Prasarana has selected a joint venture of Malaysia Resources Corp and George Kent as project delivery partner for Klang Valley Line LRT3.

Philippines: The Department of Transportation & Communications has awarded Bombardier a 53·4m peso seven-month contract to upgrade signalling components on Manila's MRT3.

Poland: Track renewals company ZUE has acquired a Plasser & Theurer RM 80 UHR ballast cleaning train, financed through Millennium Leasing, having bought a SSP 110 SW ballast profiler earlier this year.

PKP PLK has completed a 615m złoty project to revitalise the Czstochowa - Koluszki line. Work included the replacement of 160 km of track, 80 km of overhead line and 140 turnouts. With the line now suitable for 120 km/h, journey times have been cut by 30 min.

PKP PLK has signed 258m złoty contract with a consortium of Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman SA to build the Zabocie - Krzemionki chord to form a triangle outside Kraków Paszów station, eliminating a reversal for Kraków - Zakopane trains.

A consortium of Safege and Schuessler-Plan Inynierzy submitted the best bid for design of a new tram line from Wars­zawa Zachodnia to Wilanów. Valued at 3566m złoty, the work is to be completed in around a year. Construction of the line is included in Tramwaje Warszawskie 's 2014-20 budget.

A 50: 50 consortium of Indra and Als­tom España is to install and maintain for 42 months safety and security systems in six tunnels on the Antequera - Granada high speed line.

Sweden: Trafikverket has awarded Alstom a €66m contract to design, supply and maintain an Iconis traffic management system covering its entire network. The contract runs for eight years, with an option for a further nine.

Network Rail has awarded framework contractor Murphy & Sons a £56·9m multi-disciplinary design and build contract covering enabling works for the £113m electrification of the Gospel Oak - Barking route in London.

USA: California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded HNTB Corp the project and construction management contract for the 35 km Package 4.

California's Orange County Transportation Authority has selected HNTB Corp to design the 6·6 km OC Streetcar project. Construction is expected to begin in 2017, for opening in 2020.
