CZECH REPUBLIC Praha transport agency DPP has awarded the TT Modřany consortium of Ohla ŽS and Strabag Rail a contract to build a tramway extension in the south of the city for opening in spring 2023.

The 1·7 km extension with four stops will start at the existing loop in Sídliště Modřany and run along ul Generála Šišky to ul Novodvorska to serve the site of the future Libuš metro station on Line D, where a temporary loop with sidings will be built.

The EU is covering 85% of the KC304m cost of the project.

Future plans included a further two-stop extension to terminate near the future Nové Dvory metro station on Line D.
