RUSSIA: Moscow commuter operator Central Suburban Passenger Co has awarded Transmashholding’s Demikhovsky Engineering Plant a contract to supply 10 Type EP2D electric multiple-units by the end of the year

This follows from an order for 10 units delivered earlier this year for use on the routes from Moscow’s Kursk, Riga and Kiev stations. The 11-cars units are 244 m long, with a capacity of 2 866 passengers.

The two orders are being financed through leasing deals with VEB Leasing and State Transport Leasing Co.

‘Renewal of the rolling stock is one of our priorities’, said Operations Director Vladimir Kozlov. ‘The acquisition of modern suburban trains makes it possible to increase the level of comfort for passengers, making transport safer and more convenient.’
