
Following a major refurbishment programme, trains resumed running on April 23 over the Cuauhtémoc – Chapultepec section of Mexico City ‘s metro Line 1. The main contractor for the rebuilding work was CRRC’s local subsidiary MexiRRC.

The municipality of Hwaseong has called tenders for the final design and construction of the first phase of the Dongtan tramway. The 13·8 km initial section of the Red Line would run from Mangpo metro station on the Suin-Bundang Line in Suwon to Banggyo-dong in Hwaseong, while the 17·8 km Blue Line would connect Byeongjeom station on Seoul metro Line 1 with a depot site in the south of Hwaseong. The two lines would meet at the Dongtan terminus of Great Train Express Line A. Construction is expected to start in September. Catenary-free operation using either hydrogen or battery-power is envisaged.
The Romanian government has approved plans to procure 12 trainsets to replace the 40-year-old fleet on București metro Line 4 and to operate on the future Line 6 from 2028. Operator Metrorex plans to call tenders in the second half of 2025. The control system on Line 4 will also be replaced to enable through running with Line 6.
Officials in Dong Nai have proposed the construction of a 21 km underground metro line with 13 stations, running north from the Suoi Tien terminus of Ho Chi Minh City metro Line 1 to Trang Bom in Dong Nai.
Islamabad’s Capital Development Authority is to commission a feasibility study for a ‘Soft Wheel Electric Tram’ and electric feeder buses.

Bremen operator BSAG withdrew the last of its 78 GT8N first generation low-floor trams on April 13. They have been replaced by Siemens Mobility Avenio Type GT8N-2 Nordlicht trams, although one will be one will be used for Christmas services and one retained for driver training before long-term preservation as a museum vehicle.
