ITALY: Lombardia regional passenger train operator Trenord has launched an account on the WeChat social media and messaging app which is popular with Chinese visitors.

Trenord’s Chinese-language mini-site is designed to offer clear information on its services. It said it is receiving growing interest from Chinese tourists, and 10% of customers who purchased its Snow Train winter sports tickets in the 2024-25 season were of Chinese nationality.

The initiative forms part of its strategy of internationalisation and digitisation to promote rail as a comfortable, sustainable and smart means of travelling in Lombardia.
