Carl Ice has been named President & Chief Operating Officer at BNSF Railway with effect from November 1, taking up a newly created post alongside Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Matt Rose.
Pointing out that ‘our alignment and teamwork have been a hallmark of BNSF's success’, Rose said the splitting of his former role as Chairman, President & CEO ‘marks the next step in our evolution, and will put BNSF in a position to lead the rail industry through the next decade.’
Ice had served as Executive Vice-President & Chief Operations Officer at BNSF since December 2000, having worked for Santa Fe and its successors since 1979. In his new post, he will be responsible for Operations, Marketing and Technology Services. He is also a board member at Transportation Technology Center Inc.
In a related move, Greg Fox has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Operations, having previously served as Vice President, Transportation, and before that Vice President, Engineering.
