The New York subway has completed 12 months of testing with a compressed air dryer designed by Norgren, which it says will have an average service-free life of up to six years. Instead of a clay binder, the dryer uses adsorbent media tube technology to house the desiccant, ensuring moisture can be regenerated faster and more economically and without the risk of dust contamination.

Over the winter New York MTA successfully tested the performance and reliability of solar-powered kiosks which provide real-time train running information supplied by wi-fi. They do not need a mains connection, and batteries can power the kiosks for 10 days without recharging from the sun.

PCC.eu has developed Comfort Zone, a wheelchair-accessible train toilet module designed to meet UK accessibility regulations which will apply to existing rolling stock from 2020. Installation takes 48 h, and the supplier offers maintenance services.
