USA: California-based engineering software supplier Trimble announced on December 1 that it had acquired vehicle diagnostics specialist Nexala, which will become part of Trimble’s Engineering & Construction segment.

Trimble supplies GPS, optical, imaging and scanning technologies for the construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure, including building information modelling software and track geometry tools. With the acquisition of Nexala, it will add rail vehicle life-cycle management products to its portfolio, including an engineering, asset and maintenance management system, real-time diagnostic and component condition monitoring, and planning and management software.

‘Trimble can now provide innovative technology for both the track infrastructure and the train assets that ride on it’, said Trimble’s General Manager for rail, Ron Bisio.
