SWEDEN: Hector Rail has ordered five Siemens Vectron locomotives equipped for use in Scandinavia.

Two of the locomotives are already built and are to be delivered this year, while three more which are to be delivered next year will have last-mile diesel engines and remote controls, potentially removing the need to use separate shunting locomotives in yards.

The deal announced on July 20 includes and an option for Hector Rail to order a further 15 locomotives by 2021. These could be equipped to operate in Germany as well as Sweden and Denmark.
