
POLAND: Małopolska voivodship and regional train operator Koleje Małopolskie have signed a 382·6m złoty firm order for a further seven Newag Impuls 45WE electric multiple-units.
The order for seven 3 kV DC EMUs signed on January 21 is the third to be placed under a September 2024 framework agreement for up to 25 trains worth 1·3bn złoty. There was an initial 345m złoty firm order for six units, which was followed by an order for six more as funding was secured. Deliveries of the 19 EMUs now confirmed are planned over the next three years.
The four-car EMUs are intended to offer high comfort, a modern design and increased accessibility for people with reduced mobility. They will have a capacity of 550 passengers, with space for bicycles and large luggage, a family zone and ticket machines.
They are to be used onm service SKA1 Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia – Kraków Airport, and on planed new routes such as Kraków – Myślenice.
