ITALY: National passenger operator Trentitalia has awarded Alstom a framework contract for the supply of up to 150 Coradia Stream regional electric multiple-units worth a total of €910m

The 3 kV DC units will be built in Italy at Alstom’s sites at Savigliano, Sesto San Giovanni and Bologna. They will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h and features including ETCS, cycle spaces and sliding steps for accessibility.

‘This new generation of trains represents the future of Italian regional rail transport’, said said Michele Viale, General Manager of Alstom Italy, on August 6. ’We are proud to give impetus to a passenger-focused vision of green regional transport, in line with national objectives on the ecological transition.’
