GREECE: Attiko Metro reopened the underground section of Line 1 between Attiki and Monastiraki on June 7 following completion of track renewal work (MR 3.11 p48).

However, the discovery of archaeological remains has halted work on the section between Omonia and Thissio, which is currently limited to single-track operation. As a result, Attiko Metro is operating two separate services, Kifissia – Omonia and Omonia – Piraeus, requiring passengers to change at Omonia. Work cannot resume until a dispute over the fate of the remains, thought to be a temple to the 12 gods of ancient Greece, is settled.
