INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated two metro extensions totalling 22·2 km and laid the foundation stone for three more sections totalling a further 16·1 km as the capital city’s metro continues to expand.

Circular line openings

A 9·9 km extension of semi-circular metro Line 8 (Magenta) was one of the newly opened sections launched in early March. This seven-station, isolated extension is branded as Line 8S, and links Majlis Park to Deepali Chowk.

A 12·3 km section of Line 7 (Pink) has opened between Majlis Park and Maujpur, completing the circle. This eight-station extension features a new bridge in the Yamuna area and a double-deck viaduct that carries both the metro and a road flyover.
