THAILAND: Bangkok elevated metro operator BTS SkyTrain opened a single station extension of the Silom Line from Wong Wian Yai to Pho Nimit on January 15, with a further extension to Talat Phlu following on February 14, when free rides were offered.
Mass Rapid Transit Authority is to call tenders later this year for four contracts to build a 19 km extension of the Sukhumvit Line. The contracts with an estimated total value of 26·5bn baht would cover civil works for the Mor Chit - Saphan Mai and Saphan Mai - Ku Kot sections, the depot and the railway systems.
