Bombardier has appointed Panattoni Europe to build a new manufacturing hall at its Wroclaw plant.

POLAND: Bombardier Transportation has awarded industrial property developer Panattoni Europe a contract to build a new manufacturing hall alongside the existing facilities at its Wrocław plant.

Completion is scheduled for June 2016, with the new hall to be used to manufacture passenger rolling stock bodyshells for projects including Deutsche Bahn's ICx inter-city trains.

The 18 357 m2 production area will be divided into a laser welding room and a paint shop, and there will be 1 020 m2 of office, staff and technical facilities.

The is the first heavy industrial contract won by Panattoni Europe, which has previously developed light manufacturing plants for products including household appliances and car interior components. 'A contract with a leading maker of rolling stock in Poland is a new challenge for us and a significant milestone in the development of not just our company, but of our sector as a whole', said Robert Dobrzycki, CEO Europe at Panattoni.

The deal was facilitated by industrial and logistics agency Colliers International. 'The transaction was one of the most complex we have recently advised on', according to partner Maciej Chmielewski. 'Advanced manufacturing is a demanding sector. Many factors need to be taken into consideration in order to secure the success of an investor.'
