HUNGARY: National railway group MÁV has purchased 100% of the shares in the companies that own the Dunakeszi Járműjavító rolling stock maintenance business for HF19·8bn.
The government paid HF10bn for Dunakeszi Vasútgépész Járműjavító és Járműgyártó, which holds the assets of the DJJ plant itself, and HF9·8bn for Dunakeszi Vasútgépész Vagyonkezelő, to which the property around the works belongs. Both DVJJ and DJJ were created in December 2025 by Hungarian investment company Magyar Vagon, which was their owner prior the deal. The acquisition was reported by local media following an announcement by administrator Nemzeti Reorganizációs Nonprofit Kft.
In recent years, DJJ has been carrying out major overhauls of hauled coaches for national operator MÁV Személyszállítási Zrt, as well as the assembly of coaches for Egyptian National Railways.
DJJ has been going through liquidation proceedings since October 2025, along with rolling stock supply business Ganz-Mavag International. It has also been owned by Magyar Vagon, and remains responsible for delivering the Egyptian order, but now on land and assets owned by MÁV.
Magyar Vagon had acquired DJJ from the TMH Hungary Invest joint venture in July 2022; DJJ had previously been owned by the TMH International subsidiary of Russian rolling stock group Transmashholding.
