Wabtec Indian Railways 500th loco

Celebrations at Wabtec’s Marhowra plant in Bihar marked the delivery of the 500th Evolution Series diesel locomotive to Indian Railways under a US$2·5bn agreement for 1 000 locos signed in 2015. So far Wabtec has delivered 438 of the 4 500 hp dual-cab locomotives, and 62 6 000 hp single-cab locos.

On February 20 Eurofima disbursed a €31m 15-year loan which Croatian national passenger operator and shareholder HZPP will use to finance an August 2022 order for Končar to supply seven three-car DMUs.

Railcare Group’s board has adopted new financial targets, aiming to increase sales by 60% to SKr800m by the end of 2027 and maintain an operating margin of more than 10%. The company said rail freight and passenger traffic in Sweden is forecast to increase by 50% by 2040, and major investments are being made in transport infrastructure internationally.

On February 15 leasing company Railpool said it is the first rail industry organisation with approved short- and long-term science-based targets in accordance with the Paris Agreement. Railpool’s plans to reduce its emissions by 42% by 2030 include a switch to renewable energy, installation of photovoltaic equipment and a reduction in gas heating, while the expansion of its fleet of electric and bimode locomotives ’will further advance the overall transition in the transport sector’.

A civil engineering graduate, she has spent eight years specialising in rail freight and has worked as a project manager handling public projects requests, grade separation reviews, utility reviews, waste water and property related projects for Class I railways.


Ákos Maróy has joined Nexxiot as Chief Data Officer, overseeing the use of data gathered by the Zürich-based company’s freight asset and shipment monitoring technology.
